Poem a month

This is a new feature I would like to call "Poem a month" It's pretty self-explanatory, I simply post 1 poem; a month.

So here is my 1st poem to start us off. It's one that I like to call: "Ant girl" Hope you like it :)

Ant girl

There once lived a girl, the size of an ant. She would walk and walk until she started to pant.

Ant girl didn’t rally have a home. So she would just sit in the shade, all alone.

Until one day, Ant girl met a flea. “Do you want to be friends with me?”

The flea said yes, and climbed on Ant girl’s back. But left Ant girl with an itching attack.

The two friends would be best friends forever. But what I thought wasn’t quite so clever: Was that Ant girl had said that size doesn’t matter. Just before a shoe; ended the two friends with a splatter.

inception film review

Before I start please know that this review could contain what some people would consider as spoilers.

Intro: I went to see inception almost the day after it came out. Even though this would not usually give the critics enough time to review it, there had been a few previews in which gave the film some very positive feedback. So; I knew that so far it had got some pretty good reviews, yet what I didn't know was much about the plot or the story-line. I knew it had something to do with dreams, and people who specialized in dreams; but without knowing much about the film how are you meant to know how someone can specialize in dreams? The film is directed by Christopher Nolan, a director I strongly admired before the film. His two batman films were brilliantly made and directed, and his film the prestige was simply incredible with it's dramatic twist at the end of the film as the film only gives away small amounts of information as the movie goes on.

The review: Now; onto the review. When I first came out the cinema my initial reaction was "Wow, Christopher Nolan's done it again." But as the evening went on I realized just how big an impact the film had actually had on me.

The story was as I said about dreams. But the idea of dreams mixing with reality. How is this possible, well; the masters of this art called "inception" have devices allowing them to be conscious, inside what should be their subconscious. This allows them to freely enter the dream dimension and explore it but also create it, as after all: It is your mind you're walking in! The purpose of this unique device is not just to walk within your own subconscious, but other peoples. With this you can steal thoughts, memories; or even information from someone else's mind. The best part though is not just extracting the information, but instead doing it without the person even knowing you have extracted it. How? Well this all links back to dreams; as the person is made to believe that the thief was just part of their dream!

The cast: The main character Cobb is played by Leonardo DiCarprio. He does a Brilliant job in showing Cobb's character for what he truly is. A highly intelligent inventor, with a creative and excellent mind to match his strong and confident personality. Ellen Page plays another key character. She is in-charge of designing the dream worlds. She again does very well in playing the role of this intelligent and very imaginative character with an equally curious mind always wanting to learn more.

There is however 1 more key thing that these devices allow you to do. As well as extracting information, it also allows you to plant information, causing your victim to randomly feel the urge to do something; like go out and buy the film inception. Then suddenly you will have the random urge to go and buy the film inception!

complications: There are a few complications in the film that may put some people off. For instance different levels in a dream. So dreams Within dreams. My main advice to anyone who is reading this and hasn't seen the film is to do what you would do with any Sci-Fi film or television program. You don't need to work out what every bit of information means; you just need to know the basic outline of what's going on to be able to understand and enjoy the movie. That was what I did, just work out the basics of what's being said and I understood the film just fine.

Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon- Levitt play Cobb's 2 apprentices. They also do a superb job at showing they know their stuff, yet they are still faithful to Cobb who they trust in coming up with the plans for the operation.

The visuals and special effects. These can only be described with words such as "Simply incredible!" The dream worlds look stunning and really fit the profile for what people would describe as their "Dream world" Buildings reaching up into the heavens, staircases move according to where you want to go ( Yes this seems like Harry Potter, but the difference is the staircases move according to your mind, not their own) Other than the dream world the action scenes are Simply breath taking. For instance one fight scene is done literally whilst the 2 characters are floating in mid air and being pulled sideways and upside down. The most unbelievable part of this is knowing that this scene was not computer generated, and was instead done actually by tilting a van sideways and putting the characters on ropes. This was definitely mine and I'm sure many other peoples favorite scene in the movie.

The after effect: As I mentioned earlier this movie continued to impress me even after I had long left the cinema; and here is why. With some films you see them, at the end of them you say to yourself either that was good or that was bad, and then you might just forget about it. However with inception; I continued to think about it's dynamic plot and dramatic ending for a while after I had got home. There were still mysteries to the film left to uncover so not only was I trying to solve them; but I was also simply thinking about the sheer brilliance of the film as a whole.

Conclusion. Personally I think that any film that has you thinking about it's detailed plot, it's thrilling mysteries and how amazing it was even after you are back in the comfort of your own home, is definitely a film that should be credited with the full 5 stars and a 10 out of 10 rating; truly brilliant; a definite, must see!
